Illinois, the Prairie State, was once covered with tallgrass prairie that was home to animals such as bison and badgers. Learn about prairie ecosystems, plant identification, and prairie ethnobotany through guided hiking and nature games to understand the natural factors that created the prairie and why so little of it remains.
Please arrive 10-15 minues early in the parking lot at the main entrance of the Dick Young Forest Preserve, located off of Main Street on the north side of the park and approximately 2 miles west of Randall Road.
